The 2012 Imperial Sandtrooper Star Wars Minifigure is the fourth variant of this minifigure with the original first appearing in the 2004 Lego set Mos Eisley Cantina 4501. This new version is substantially redesigned and features new realistic printing on the torso and legs depicting dirty armour, and wears a back pack.
The torso, legs and helmet of the Squad Leader look identical to that of the Sergeant, however he wears an orange pauldron.
The Imperial Sandtrooper and Squad Leader appear in the 2012 Star Wars Lego set Droid Escape 9490 along with C-3PO and R2-D2.
